Porter Hills Village - The H.I.V.E.

Expansion & New Construction

This new three-story, 245,000-SF Life Planning Community is situated at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The project consists of 57 new independent living units, 39 new skilled nursing units, and 108 new assisted living units. All three living accommodations tie together with the centralized Town Center. The Town Center is where residents can find many of the amenities this new community will provide, such as a salon, café and dining, theater, wellness, learning center, and more.

Project Updates

Going Vertical

Footings and foundations have wrapped up onsite allowing DHE and Feyen Zylstra the opportunity to install all required underground mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEPs) utilities throughout the building. Kent Companies has completed the independent living slab-on-grade, allowing Fair & Square Construction to begin vertical construction using prefabricated wood panels and trusses for that wing. Fair & Square Construction

Fair & Square Construction has been working onsite since the middle of March, allowing us to hit the milestone of going vertical with the project. They have been able to hold their aggressive framing schedule thus far while still exemplifying high safety and quality standards on the installation of prefabricated wall panels and trusses. Currently, there are around 30 personnel from their team installing the wood framing for Porter Hills Village, making for a lot of deliveries

Coming Out of the Ground

Footings and foundations continue to progress around the site. Kent Concrete is currently working within the Assisted Living wings and will wrap up shortly before transitioning to the Health Center. The Independent Living wing is being prepared with underground utilities being installed by DHE and Feyen Zylstra to support a major milestone: the slab-on-grade pour scheduled to begin the first week of March. Integrated Exteriors has continued its work across the entire building
